SCHOOL HISTORY
With his vision to have at least one secondary and one elementary schools for every barangay to relieve the parents sending their children to far-flung schools thus contributing to the increase of the drop-out rate, the City Government of Parañaque through the leadership of the former City Mayor Florencio M.Bernabe, Jr. in coordination with former Schools Division Superintendent Joel T. San Luis, started to build in 2013 the Parañaque National High School (PNHS) – Don Bosco Annex for the residents of Brgy. Don Bosco. Following the May 2013 election, the elected City Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez continued the vision in support of the full implementation of K to 12 Program of the Department of Education.
While the construction was underway, PNHS – Don Bosco Annex was temporarily housed at F. Serrano Sr. Elementary School (FSES) located at John St. Annex 35, Better Living Subdivision, Brgy, Don Bosco, Parañaque City with former Superintendent San Luis designating Mr. Urbano E. Agustin, former Principal IV of Parañaque National High School Main as likewise in charge in the absence of a school head and being the principal of the school where the teachers were deployed. The school accommodated the 431 Grade VII students on June 3, 2013.
On January 24, 2014 former Superintendent San Luis designated Miss Gina N. Zapico as the first Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of PNHS – Don Bosco Annex along with the change of the school name from PNHS – Don Bosco Annex to PNHS – Don Bosco Extension being not established yet.
PNHS – Don Bosco Extension moved to its newly constructed four-storey, 36-classroom building at El Dorado Dulo, Better Living Subdivision, Brgy. Don Bosco, Parañaque City in June 2014. The building was judiciously designed to have the offices for the administration and faculty, accounting, guidance, BEIS, clinic, and canteen, besides other basic facilities such as provision for toilets, fire extinguishers, and emergency lights.
Meanwhile, the S.Y. 2014-2015 began with Grade VII and Grade VIII levels, and finally opened the Grade 9 and Fourth Year level in October where the students who were the residents of Brgy. Don Bosco and who were enrolled in the nearby schools/barangays such as Moonwalk, Sun Valley, and Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School were transferred. From thereon, donations poured in such as drinking water station from the Maynilad, water tank from the PNHS-Main, and basketball rings with stand from City Councilor Binky Favis, and construction of the perimeter fence – all for the students’ use and safety.
With the reassignment of Miss Zapico to Baclaran National High School, former Superintendent San Luis assigned Mrs. Reena G. Orquina as the subsequent OIC principal on October 31, 2014. Mrs. Orquina managed the school’s first batch of graduates in March 2015 and started to work out and facilitate the documents for the establishment of the school now renamed Don Bosco High School Parañaque as approved by the City Council of the Parañaque.
As SY 2016-2017 started, a new officer-in-charge was designated by the Schools Division Superintendent Maria Magdalena M. Lim, CESO V in the person of Mr. Eduardo M. Taguiam, a Master Teacher I who had been a teacher for more than 20 years at Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School. On his first year, he was able to accomplish various programs and projects in the school like Project I-DEAR (Intensified Drop Everything and Read), Project ISIP (Intensified Stakeholders Involvement Program) and OPLAN BOWL, a breakfast overload for wasted and severely wasted learners, and helped to develop facilities such as Computer Laboratory (First Floor), E- Learning Center, Science Laboratory, and newly renovated canteen.
He further uplift the educational standard of DBHSP, through SY 2017-2018, by adding more facilities like the Audio-Visual Room, Junior High School Computer Laboratory (Second Floor), and TLE Laboratory.
Under his guidance, several activities and contests were participated by the school which merited highest awards and recognitions. In addition, he is working on various programs for this school year such as Project BAD (Batang Ayaw sa Droga), Project BOWL (Breakfast Overload for Wasted Learners, Project E-SPF (Enhanced School Facilities) and Project PITAS (Prevention and Intervention of Tardiness and Absenteeism) through the cooperation of different stakeholders.
